The Product Resource Technician (PRT) is an entry-level position within the Technical Services department. The PRT role primarily focuses on the responsibilities of the Sample Panel Technician, while incorporating the training responsibilities of the Product Resource Representative (PRR). This position is designed to serve as a starting point for a career path towards becoming a Technical Service Representative. The PRT will engage in sample panel preparation and technical training, with travel requirements becoming essential upon advancement to the PRR level.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Listed below are the primary duties that will be performed:

Sample Panel Preparation:

- Prepare, organize, and manage sample panels according to client and project specifications.

- Ensure the accuracy and quality of all sample panels before distribution.

- Maintain detailed records of sample panel inventory, including quantities, types, and project assignments.

- Collaborate with the production and quality control teams to address and resolve any issues related to sample panels.

- Prepare and package dry samples for shipment.

- Maintain accurate daily records/forms on project status/progress.

- Conduct application and physical testing and evaluations.

- Maintain accurate records and prepare written reports on test results for documentation and/or distribution to representatives, customers, etc.

Technical Service Training:

- Complete training agendas to learn about Tnemec products regarding their specification, application, and performance attributes.

- Complete other training agendas to gain comprehensive knowledge of the coating industry, including:

  - Coatings technology

  - Application and equipment techniques

  - Inspection equipment and techniques

  - Test methods and equipment

  - Written and verbal communication skills

- Perform department tasks as assigned, including Technical Service Laboratory work including:

    - Material application evaluations (MAEs)

    - Formal adhesion testing of Tnemec products over various products and substrates

    - Assist with Product demonstrations

    - Ad hoc product testing

    - Lab and equipment cleaning and maintenance

Qualifications

- 3-5 years of manufacturing experience preferred

- Excellent attendance - Documented attendance of no more than forty-eight (48) hours missed in the preceding twelve (12) month rolling period.

- History of high-quality performance in the current position - Documented overall performance rating of “Good” or better for the preceding two (2) performance evaluations.

- Basic math skills.

- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively using both verbal and written English.

- Aptitude for basic mechanical skills.

- Ability to complete assignments independently with little supervision.

- Ability to work collaboratively with team members to complete group assignments and achieve department goals and objectives.

- Ability to move objects up to 100 lbs.

- Ability to work well with a wide range of personalities.

- Willingness to remain customer-focused in confrontational scenarios.

- Willingness to travel regularly on company business, sometimes for extended periods, upon advancement to PRR level.

- High School diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.

- Experience with table and tile saws is a plus.

- Experience with application equipment such as brush, roller, airless/conventional spray, and trowel is preferred.

- Experience in the coatings industry, laboratory, or manufacturing is preferred.

Equipment Operation:

The following are equipment, tools, and other resources utilized in this position:

- Laptop, printer, and other office-related equipment

- Power tools such as grinders and drills

- Various hand tools such as adjustable wrenches

- High-pressure paint spray application equipment

- Mortar mixing and transfer equipment

Knowledge and Experience:

The following experience is required for successfully performing this job:

- Demonstrated ability of high quality and accurate work

- Detail-oriented

- Demonstrated ability to effectively work with others to resolve problems

- Demonstrated ability of sound decision-making

Education and Training:

- High School Diploma or equivalent required. Associate or undergraduate degree a plus
